Chemical and Biological Engineering/Biomedical Engineering senior Benjamin Farkas, ’21, departed for Hangzhou, China, in June to study at Zhejiang University for six weeks.

The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at CSU and Zhejiang University launched an exclusive exchange program in 2017, giving students an opportunity to explore CBE through a new lens while gaining international exposure. Farkas is one of four students to participate in this exchange program this summer.

Farkas is taking two compressed CBE Unit Operations lab courses at ZJU, which will satisfy his CBE lab requirements for his entire fourth year.

“It has been amazing experiencing total immersion in Chinese academia, culture, and geography,” Farkas said. “This is my first experience studying or living abroad, and it has been so rewarding.”

After his courses conclude, Farkas will venture to Indonesia for three weeks before classes start up again. After completing his undergraduate degree, he plans to acquire some industry experience, then return to academia for his master’s degree.
