For the past four years, Colorado State University engineering students have been pushing the limits of advanced vehicle technology. They’re the members of EcoCAR 3, a student team tasked with transforming a Chevrolet Camaro into a hybrid-electric car with reduced environmental impacts – without sacrificing performance.

EcoCAR 3 is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and General Motors, and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. It involves students from many disciplines, including mechanical engineering and electrical engineering.

In the competition’s culminating year, CSU will compete against 15 other universities, May 10-22. During various events in three cities, the car will be tested for safety, durability, innovation, and of course, driving performance.

Get a peek at the car, and what it can do.
