Colorado State Climatologist Russ Schumacher shared a few thoughts on this unusual weather we’re having.

The official numbers from NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information show that the Four Corners states all had their warmest Novembers in the 123-year record.

Record-breaking warm weather so far this winter may become cause for concern. But not quite yet.

That’s according to Colorado State Climatologist Russ Schumacher, also an associate professor of atmospheric science at Colorado State University.

Schumacher and the staff at the Colorado Climate Center are dedicated to informing the public about weather and climate trends statewide. Among their keystone efforts is weekly contributions to the U.S. Drought Monitor for the Intermountain West region. As of this writing, western Colorado is in “moderate” (D1) drought.
